11 Months Old!

Kay is 11 months old. We took her to the doctor last week because I was concerned about her ears. She weighed in at 17 lbs and 7.5 ounces (with clothes on).

She is eating all kinds of food, crawling from room to room, sitting up, and curious about everything. She "talks" to anything and anyone.

We have been watching for a family tent to go on sale so we can all go camping. We finally found one this weekend. We set it up in the living room to test it out. Kay loved it and was crawling all over it!

Kay talks the most in the car. She babbles on and on about who knows what...

Kay is really funny when she crawls from room to room. She gets going so fast she can't keep up with herself and she stops every few steps for a thumb sucking rest.

It was much harder to get a 11 month bear picture. Good thing I have decided next month will be the last one. I spent most of my time catching her from crawling out of the chair while trying to hold the camera and get a picture!

Girls Weekend...

We had a weekend of friends! The Gorman Girls (myself, Cheri, Heidi, and Anna) were together again this weekend- all of my college roommates were in town. It was a little different this time with two little ones and one more on the way! Cheri brought her little girl Adaline and Anna is pregnant with Laurel who will be joining the world in early October. So far, 50% of the Gorman Girls have had preemie little girls. We are crossing our fingers the preemie trend does not continue for Anna!

The girls were so cute together. They enjoyed bath time together, stole food off each others plates (even though they were eating the same thing!), gave kisses to each other, and giggled a lot. It will be fun to watch them grow up together.

I hope to get other pictures soon from Heidi and Cheri (hint, hint :)!!)

Kay sits up on her own!

Kay has been busy over the past few days. She has learned to crawl and sit herself up. When I dropped her off at daycare on Wednesday they asked what we did to her over the weekend because they couldn't believe how much she had changed from the week before. She is pretty cute now because she will crawl somewhere, sit up (with some effort involved), rest and look around, then repeat over and over again. We put our first baby gate up over the weekend. I am sure securing doors and drawers will be soon!

Have you ever wondered...

....what you get when you let an eleven month old feed herself lasagna?

Lasagna in her hair, all over her face, squished between every single finger, a new outfit, and a need for a bath in the middle of the day! She sure had a lot of fun learning about squishy textures.

Kay is Crawling!

Kay is officially on the move. She crawled across the entire kitchen this weekend. She still gets tired and will not go for long periods, but she has figured out how to move her arms and legs together. I turned on the dust buster and for some reason this time it really scared her. She started crying and got up on her hands and knees and crawled away as fast as she could. I guess it just took a little motivation! I caught a small video of her crawling on the porch.

Our porch isn't finished yet, but we have already started using it. We spent most of the day outside on it Sunday. Craig read Kay books, played ball with her and let her explore. I am really looking forward to using it all the time! Make sure your sound is on so you can hear her giggle!

We also took Kay to the pool on Saturday. Our gym's pool is already open because the weather has been so warm. She loved watching all the other kids splash around.

Happy Baby...

Kay LOVES her jumper now. She has always enjoyed it, but now it is a game for her to figure out just how high she can go. I remember her cousin Charlie loved his. He used to get a running start in it to see how high he could make it go. I was able to capture a short video of her jumping. I wasn't able to get her giggling like she usually does, but at least you can see how high she jumps.

Kay is so funny how she "talks" to an object now. She will pick something up, examine it, and then start "talking" to it. Last night she talked to her hair brush and bath toy. It was so cute I caught some of it on video.

Kay laughs and laughs when I change her diaper. She thinks the crinkly noise is hilarious. All
you have to do is tap it on her belly and she giggles. This is a small version of her belly laugh. She also thinks its funny to try to roll over or squirm away while I am changing her. We are working on that because it is NOT funny. Gone are the days when she would look up admiringly with the "thank you" look in her eyes when I change her...

It has begun...

Kay is now eating yogurt and has the concept down of picking up food and putting it in her mouth. With that comes...floor samples! Kay was on a mission to get to something and I could not tell what it was. Next thing I know, she is putting a who knows how old puff in her mouth and chomping away. She also took a wad of grass that was dried and looked a little bit like a puff and tried to eat that. I guess it is time to really watch what is on the floor.

Kay crawled! She took a few true crawls on Saturday evening. She did a few more on Sunday. She hasn't switched completely from her funny inch worm type scoot. I imagine once she figures out how much faster crawling is she will be doing it more.

New Cousin...

Kay has another cousin! Natalie Scott Baker was born Friday May 7th. She is so sweet and I can't wait to get some good snuggles. Kay is so lucky to have three girl cousins all within a year of her age.

Getting Stronger...

Kay is really getting the hang of moving where she wants to go. I still don't think we can say she "crawls", but she is on the move. She does this funny little thrust thing. She will move her legs as far as she can and then thrust forward with her hands. We are working on getting her to pull up at therapy. We help her through the motions of pulling up, and she is really starting to do a lot of it on her own. Now to get her to "crawl"....Sorry for the funny noise in this video. You can hear the construction on the porch.

Kay is finally getting the concept of putting food in her mouth. Over the past few meals she has been feeding herself for a large portion of it. She now loves all kinds of foods. Some favorites are: chicken, cheese, strawberries, asparagus, pears, and apples. We are going to try yogurt soon.

I think I finally got a picture of her tiny little tooth coming in. You can see it just peeking through the gum in her bath picture. She really has been protecting her tooth and won't let us anywhere near it. I keep trying to get a toothbrush or washcloth in there and she wants nothing to do with it.

1st Weekend Away...

I had my first weekend away from Kay this past weekend. Craig did an excellent job taking care of her while I was away for one of my friend Lindsay's bachelorette party. We had a great time seeing the city and of course, embarrassing her a little...
