Kay in Wan Chai

Craig found a great spot for photos and asked Kay to "dress up" so he could take her picture.  In typical Kay style she wanted to wear her red "tutu" dress up outfit.  They had a fun father/daughter outing while I rested!

 

Peanut Butter...

I have been REALLY bad about posting pictures of "peanut butter".  Yes, the nick name has stuck.  We have been discussing how the baby will need a new name once she is born and Kay suggested "Apple".  I think we will have to keep working on that....

I have had a lot of ultra sounds this pregnancy.  It is standard to have one every appointment in Hong Kong.  Kay is loving watching my whole tummy moves as Peanut Butter wiggles.  She continues to be excited and tell everyone about how she is going to be a big sister.  Another great part about health care in Hong Kong is the doctor does a 4D ultra sound almost every visit.  We will be talking and looking at the screen and all of a sudden he will switch it to 4D.  We never had one with Kay and it is so neat to see how life like the ultrasound is.

It looks like it will be "Craig and the ladies" for this family!  Peanut Butter is a GIRL!  After several ultra sounds we feel confident enough to announce it.  It has been fun to know this time to help Kay get excited about having a "little sister".  Whenever she outgrows something in her closet she brings it to me and asks me to "save it for her little sister".  Sweet girl...

Just like last pregnancy, people are always commenting on how tiny my belly is.  I have asked my doctor about it again and he confirmed (like last time) that it is because I am tall.  The baby is actually measuring almost a week big at this point.  He said to consider myself lucky!

I have booked my spot at a private hospital.  As long as this baby comes after 34 weeks I get to deliver there.  Otherwise, I will go to the public hospital that has a better NICU.  I have been told I will get excellent healthcare at both, but the experience will be more what I am used to at the private vs. public route.  The strange part about hospitals here is you have to "reserve" a spot.  Before I went in for my first pregnancy appointment I was having to decide what hospital I wanted to deliver at and they had to start the paperwork to save my spot.  They allow each doctor a certain number of deliveries each month.  Because I was due at the end of the month, my doctor did not have any more slots for me at the hospital I wanted.  He pulled some strings and I was able to get in.

Back to Hong Kong...

We left very early (4 am) to make our flight. Kay was excited despite the early rise to get on a plane.  It amazes me every time that she is still excited about flying!  Craig traveled home with me which made the journey much easier.  We had to bring all of our "baby gear" with us so we again had LOTS of bags to carry.  Once we arrived in Hong Kong we had the fun 12 hour time change adjustment to go through again.  On a positive note, we experienced some beautiful sunrises!

We left the beach to drive straight to Craig's aunt and uncle's lake house.  We had a blast!  Lots of giggles, songs sang, and meals together...Added bonus: a new state for Kay to check off her list of having visited!

A big THANK YOU to GG for getting beach houses so all of the family to get together for a week.  We had a wonderful time relaxing and catching up with everyone!  Fun in the sun was just what the Dr. ordered.  We took a ferry ride to a very cool aquarium.  The kids had fun looking at all the fish.  Craig brought remote controlled helicopters for all the "big kids" to play with.  Craig taught the kids how to make Mimi biscuits.  All in all, a great week filled with laughs and great memories.
