Cooking with Kay...

What is the first ingredient when making a cake? Kay of course!

Kay also likes to reorganize our cabinets while we make dinner. Here she is helping me get everything to make pizza. She thought we would need a lemon juicer, flour sifter, cookie cutters, and tiny tart pans.


We think Kay's hair is growing in a little bit like Bozo the Clown right now...what do you think?


Kay is recovering from another ear infection. We will see how she responds to the medicine this time. We are hoping to avoid tubes a little longer...

8 Teeth!

I was wrong! I just checked Kay's teeth after bath and saw that she has 8 teeth now. One of the top molars came through and we didn't even notice it. No wonder she has had a hard time recently, she just got three teeth at once!

Kay has now accomplished recognizing her "nose". She will proudly point at her nose when you ask her to. She will also point at my nose. She is also very clearly saying Daddy when she sees Craig. Poor thing had terrible bug bites in this video.


Kay is really enjoying the porch now. We had some friends over for dinner over the weekend and the kids loved playing outside. Kay and her friend Sarah Bess helped me shuck the corn for dinner. We had ribs and chicken. We took the rib off the bone and Kay picked the whole thing up and ate it all! She loved that she could hold it and chew it off with her new teeth.

Goofy!

Kay thinks it is hilarious to open her mouth really really wide for the spoon, have you put the spoon in her mouth and then stall...stall...chomp closed on the spoon. She laughs and laughs thinking she is the funniest thing around. This morning she would pick up cheerios and put them in her yogurt. She would not open her mouth until I showed her the cheerio in the yogurt, scoop it on the spoon and have it ready to eat. She is really getting a personality now and she is keeping us laughing.

At the store the other day I had her in her stroller. I was looking at something and I noticed two women were stopped and laughing. I turned around to find Kay smiling ear to ear and doing her own "shopping". She was picking one basket off the shelf, turning it over and checking it out. She would then return it and get another one off. The ladies thought it was so funny she was already shopping!

Her other trick is to rub her sticky, slimy, gooey, hands in her hair while eating a meal. After lunch today she had a piece of peach entangled in her hair. Even though she is still very bald compared to other babies her age she still manages to get it all crunchy with lunch or dinner. ANY suggestions on how to make this stop would be appreciated :) She always walks around smelling like her last meal now!

Kay now has seven teeth. She cut two teeth while Craig was gone in China (busy girl!). She finally got her other top tooth and has three on the bottom front and two molars. She seems to be on the trend of one a week.

Kay is able to let go of whatever she is holding onto and stand by herself for 8 to 10 seconds now. Her daycare thinks she would be able to walk if she would just be brave enough to try it! She is so close, but too hesitant to try it.

Daddy is home!

Kay (and I) was so excited to have Craig home after he was gone for 14 days in China. She waved her hands and feet in excitement as soon as she saw him at the airport. The time difference made it hard for us to talk too much while he was gone. We did manage to skype a few times. Kay was memorized by how her daddy was on the computer screen. She kept crawling up to it to check it out. She even had breakfast with him one morning.

Anna's Baby Shower!

Cheri and I hosted Anna's baby shower over the weekend at my house. We had a great time together and Adaline and Kay loved hanging out. Like always, they were very interested in each other. They loved crawling after each other and stealing food from each other. They were a big help to Anna by unwrapping presents. We played a baby memory game and made cake pops for the party. Kay and Adaline can't wait for Laurel to join them!

Big Changes this Week!

Kay is on the move with a push toy! My mom and I took Kay to the pool and she loved walking in the shallow end. She even took a few steps between us. I think the water helped her not notice she was taking steps as much. Then, when we got home we were sitting on the coach talking. When we turned around she had pulled herself up on the push toy and started walking behind it! I had given up on the toy recently because she would just hold up her feet and protest whenever I tried. She now loves it and pushes it all the time. She has let go of whatever she is holding onto and stands for a few seconds too. I think it is only a matter of time before she will be walking!


She cut another tooth on the bottom front and has two more that are going to be coming through any day now.

Kay loves exploring anything! This week the best thing to explore has been the shower. She loves getting in it and listening to herself echo. Oh yeah... Cheerios are pretty fun these days too.



Kay gave me her first mini tantrum. When I was babysitting Natalie Kay did not like that I was holding her instead of Kay. Those should be fun in the future...



2009 and 2010 appears to be one for the record books for our family. While driving Kay to daycare a man pulled right out in front of me and hit us. It was very scary having Kay in the car. Marcia was nice enough to bring Kay some breakfast as we sat roadside for a couple of hours for the cops to come and sort out the mess. We took Kay to the doctor just to make sure she was ok. Everyone was safe. I have spent a lot of time on the phone with insurance. Thankfully, his insurance will be covering the damages. Now, both of our cars have had a "bump" this year!

Bye Bye Water...

Tonight after bath I drained the water while Kay was still in the tub. I normally take her out before pulling the plug. Kay looked at the water going down the drain, waved her hand and said bye bye. It was so cute! Kids are so smart; it is amazing how much they pick up. I have never said bye bye to the water as it goes down the drain. I guess she just knew it was going away and we always wave and say bye bye to things when they go away.
